What each connector status means

A handful of statuses appear on Connector Fleet and only one of them means fully working. The rest each point at a different action.

The Status badge on Connector Fleet shows one word for every connector, and only ONLINE means the connector is checking in and ready to work.

Every other value points at something specific: a connector that has not started yet, one that has gone quiet, one that has been switched off centrally, or one on its way out.

Nothing in the list is a fault code. Each status describes a state the connector is genuinely in, and the action that clears it differs for each one.

ONLINE, OFFLINE and ENROLLED follow the connector’s check-ins and change on their own. The rest are set deliberately and stay until somebody changes them.

Status What it means What to do
ONLINE Checking in normally and available for work. Nothing.
ENROLLED Enrolled but has not checked in yet. Normal immediately after install. Wait a few minutes. If it stays here, the service has not started on that machine.
OFFLINE More than five minutes since the last check-in. Read the Heartbeat column, then check the machine, the service, and the network.
SUSPENDED_BY_SAAS Switched off centrally for the organisation. The connector is told to pause rather than work. Re-enable the on-premises features for that organisation. The connector resumes.
PENDING_UNINSTALL A decommission has been started. The connector removes itself at its next check-in. Nothing, unless this was unintended.

Good to know

ENROLLED is the starting value for every connector. One that never leaves it has enrolled successfully but is not running, so the machine is the place to look rather than Avvi.

SUSPENDED_BY_SAAS is reversible. It follows which features were switched off, so it can appear on some of an organisation’s connectors and not others.

Working through an offline connector is covered separately, including what the Heartbeat timestamp tells you and what to send when reporting it.
