What the Connector Fleet page is for
One list of every machine running a connector, across all your clients, with whether each is checking in and how its work is going.
Connector Fleet lists every machine across all your clients that has a connector installed. One row per machine, with whether it is reachable and how its recent work has gone.
The page exists because on-premises work fails differently from cloud work. A request to Microsoft 365 either succeeds or returns an error, while a request to somebody’s server can go nowhere at all because the machine is off.
The page is where that shows up before a client reports it.
How it works
Each connector checks in regularly, and the page reflects the last time it did.
A connector that has been quiet for more than five minutes is marked OFFLINE, and work that needs it fails at the time of asking rather than waiting.
The page also carries the recent success and failure counts for each machine, which is what turns a vague sense that something is wrong into a specific machine to look at.
Most of what you can do here is per machine: updating one, restarting its service, or removing it. Updating every outdated connector at once is the exception.
Good to know
The page covers all your clients at once, not one at a time. Searching by name, host, tenant, version or status is how you narrow it.
Modules shown on a row are what that machine was installed to do. A machine without the Identity module cannot do identity work no matter how healthy it looks.
Reaching this page needs on-premises access on your own account. An administrator whose access covers only workstations is sent back to settings rather than seeing it.
What to do next
If a control is greyed out, your account is not allowed to change it. The setting is not broken and nothing is missing from the page.
If a setting is absent rather than greyed, the feature is switched off for your whole organisation rather than for you.
If the control works and saving fails, Avvi replies “Master admin access required”. That is the same permission problem, reported when you save rather than before.
Open Settings, go to Integrations, choose the Connector, then Fleet. Look at the Status column across your clients, and treat anything not ONLINE as worth a moment.
For a machine showing OFFLINE, read the Heartbeat column first. When it last checked in decides what to look at.
To add a machine, use Install Connector from the same page.
FAQ
Q: The setting is greyed out and I cannot change it.
A: Your account is not allowed to change that setting. Ask an administrator with full access to change it for you, or to add your group to the permission.
Q: Who do I ask to get access?
A: Any administrator with full access in Avvi. Tell them which setting you were trying to reach and what you needed to change.
Q: Does this page show client devices generally?
A: No. Only machines with a connector installed.
Q: Why is a connector shown for a client who has no servers?
A: A workstation can run one too. The modules on the row say which kind it is.
Q: Can I see what a connector has been doing?
A: The success and failure counts are on the row, and the tasks for a connector can be opened from it.
