Ask Avvi to do something for several people at once

Name everybody in one request and Avvi confirms the whole set together. An ambiguous name does not stop the batch, so read the summary at the end.

Naming several people in one request works, and Avvi confirms the whole set in a single approval listing every change.

Approving that set approves those changes and nothing else. Adding somebody afterwards needs its own approval.

Two behaviours are worth knowing before you start. A name Avvi cannot find at all stops the whole request, while a name it finds only near-matches for is usually skipped and reported at the end.

Before you begin

Use email addresses rather than names where you can. That removes the ambiguity that causes the skipping.

Decide whether the same change really applies to everybody. A batch with one exception in it is two requests.

Make the request

  1. Open chat and check the client.
  2. Name everybody and the change in one sentence.
  3. Read the confirmation to the bottom. Every person and change is listed.
  4. Confirm.
  5. Read the summary Avvi gives afterwards.

The summary reports who the change was applied to and which names could not be resolved, with the near-matches for each.

Good to know

For a single person, an unresolved name stops and asks. In a batch it usually does not, because stopping would strand the people whose names were clear.

Resolving a skipped name afterwards is a fresh request for that person rather than a continuation of the batch.

A name that matches nothing at all is different again and stops the request before anything runs.

Verify it worked

Compare the summary against the list you asked for. The two should match person for person.

Ask Avvi to confirm the current state for one or two of them as a spot check.

If something doesn’t look right

If somebody is missing from the summary, look for their name in the unresolved list before assuming a failure.

If the change applied to somebody you did not intend, ask for the opposite for that person immediately.

If the summary reports fewer people than the confirmation listed, treat the batch as unfinished and ask for the remainder by email address.

If the counts do not add up at all, open a support conversation from the Help drawer with the client name and the list you asked for.

FAQ

Q: How many people can I name at once?

A: There is no small fixed number. Readability of the confirmation is the practical limit.

Q: Can I mix different changes for different people?

A: Yes, and the confirmation lists each one. Read it carefully, because a mixed batch is where mistakes hide.

Q: One name could not be resolved. Did the others still run?

A: Usually yes, and the summary tells you which one was skipped. A name that matches nothing at all stops the request instead.
