Your first day with Avvi
Three questions to try, in order, ending with something that actually changes. Fifteen minutes and you will know what it is for.
Start by asking something that changes nothing, so you can see how it answers before you rely on it.
What you are allowed to ask for is set by your IT team, and most of it starts switched off. Being told you cannot do something on your first day is normal rather than a fault.
Before you begin
Nothing to install and nothing to set up. Open chat and start typing.
Set aside fifteen minutes. Rushing the third step is how people end up unsure what happened.
Expect some refusals. Your access is granted a piece at a time by your IT team.
Ask these three
- Ask what Avvi can help you with. It answers from what your account is actually allowed to do.
- Ask a question about your own account, such as who has access to your mailbox.
- Ask for something small that you genuinely need, and read the confirmation before agreeing.
If any of these comes back saying you are not allowed, that is a setting rather than a mistake. Ask Avvi to pass the request to your IT team.
On the third, the confirmation names exactly what will happen. Reading it once now makes every future one quicker.
Good to know
Saying my or I is enough. You never need to type your own email address.
Questions change nothing and are answered immediately. Anything that changes something waits for you.
If Avvi says you are not allowed to do something, that is a setting your IT team controls rather than a mistake. Ask Avvi to pass the request to them.
Verify it worked
For the third question, check the thing itself. If you set an out of office, look at your mail settings.
Some changes take a few minutes to appear, so waiting is worth trying before asking again.
If something doesn’t look right
If Avvi answers about the wrong person, say my rather than your name and ask again.
If a reply reads like it was written for somebody technical, quote it back and ask what it means.
If you are unsure whether something finished, ask did that work? in the same conversation.
