What is Avvi, and why has my company given me access?
A chat assistant for the everyday IT things you would normally ask your IT team about. Ask in ordinary words and it either does it or explains why not.
Avvi is a chat assistant for the everyday IT things you would otherwise ask your IT team about. Access to a mailbox, a password reset, a problem with your laptop.
Your company gave you access so those things happen while you are asking rather than after somebody reads a queue. Most of what people ask takes seconds.
You type in ordinary words. There is nothing to learn and no syntax to get right.
How it works
You describe what you need. Avvi works out what that means and either does it or explains why it cannot.
Anything that changes something is shown to you first, in a message naming exactly what will happen, and it waits for you to agree. Nothing happens until you do.
Questions are answered straight away, because nothing is changing.
What you are allowed to ask for is decided by your IT team. A colleague may be able to do something you cannot, and that is a setting rather than a mistake.
Good to know
Avvi is not a general assistant. It is for your work account, your email, your access and the computer you work on.
Anything it changes is recorded and your IT team can see it. Avvi says so at the time rather than burying it.
What to do next
Open chat and ask for something small to start with. Who has access to my mailbox? is a good first question and changes nothing.
When you need something done, say what you want in one sentence, naming the person if it involves somebody else.
If Avvi says it cannot help, ask it to pass the request to your IT team.
FAQ
Q: Do I have to use it?
A: No, and it is usually faster than the alternative.
Q: Can it break something?
A: It shows you every change before making it. Cancelling leaves everything as it was.
Q: Is it watching what I do?
A: No. It answers when you ask, and records what it did.
Q: What if it gets something wrong?
A: Say so in the same conversation and ask it to tell your IT team.
