What can I ask Avvi to do?

Ask in ordinary words about your own account, your email, or the computer you work on. What is available depends on what your IT team has turned on.

Avvi has no menu of features to browse, which makes the honest answer awkward: describe the problem in ordinary words and Avvi will say whether it can help.

Three areas cover most of what people ask about. Their own account, their email, and the computer they work on.

What is actually available to you depends on what your IT team has enabled. Two people at the same company can get different answers, and neither of them is doing anything wrong.

How it works

Avvi reads the request, works out what is being asked, and either does it or explains why it cannot.

Anything that changes something is confirmed with you first. Anything that only looks something up happens straight away.

Where Avvi cannot act, it can usually send the request to your IT team on your behalf.

Good to know

Ordinary phrasing works better than technical phrasing. My printer stopped working gets further than naming a service you think needs restarting.

Describing a symptom is enough. Avvi will usually look at the computer before suggesting a fix rather than acting on the description alone.

Everything on this page has to be switched on for your group first, and everything starts switched off. That is why a request can be refused without anything being wrong.

What to do next

Open chat and describe what you need in one sentence, as you would to a colleague.

Examples that work well: my internet is slow on this laptop, who has access to my mailbox?, I need access to the shared sales mailbox, my computer has been very slow since this morning.

If Avvi cannot help with something, ask it to pass the request to your IT team.

FAQ

Q: Is there a list of everything Avvi can do?

A: Yes. The feature list at https://avvi.cloud/features covers every action Avvi can run. It cannot tell you what your own account is allowed to ask for, which is why describing the problem is still the quicker route.

Q: Why can a colleague ask for something I cannot?

A: Access is set per group by your IT team. Ask them to enable it if you need it.

Q: Can Avvi restart my computer?

A: Only if your IT team has enabled it for your group. It is off by default, so expect to restart it yourself.

Q: Will Avvi change something without asking?

A: No. Anything that changes something is confirmed with you first.

How to phrase a request covers getting a useful answer once you know what to ask for.
