Show Avvi a screenshot

Chat accepts up to three images per message at 5 MB each. You can attach them or paste a screenshot straight into the message box.

Avvi chat accepts images, so you can show an error rather than describe it. Attach up to three per message, or paste a screenshot straight into the message box.

Each image can be up to 5 MB, and the accepted types are JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP. The limit of three applies per message, so a longer problem can be split across several messages.

Attach an image

  1. Click the image button beside the message box. It shows an image icon, and hovering it reads Attach image (or paste screenshot).
  2. Choose the file.
  3. Type your question in the same message.
  4. Send it.

The attached image appears above the message box before you send, and the sent message shows how many images went with it.

Paste instead

Copy a screenshot to your clipboard, click into the message box, and paste. The image attaches the same way as choosing a file.

Pasting is usually faster than saving a screenshot and finding it again.

Good to know

Say what you want done as well as attaching the picture. An image on its own leaves Avvi guessing at the question.

Verify it worked

The image appears above the message box before you send. A thumbnail there is the confirmation that Avvi has the file.

The counter beside the button shows how many images are attached. Nothing above the message box means nothing was attached.

If something doesn’t look right

A rejected image disappears without any message. The file does not appear above the message box at all.

Three things cause it. The file is not a JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP. The file is larger than 5 MB. Three images are already attached.

Documents, spreadsheets and PDFs are not accepted in chat at all. Where you need to show what one says, paste the relevant text instead.

Only the third of those is visible on screen, so check the type and the size yourself before assuming something is broken.

If the file is the right type and comfortably under 5 MB and still does not attach, ask Avvi to pass it to your IT team. Say what type the file is and how large.

FAQ

Q: How many images can I send at once?

A: Three per message. Send another message for more.

Q: Can I attach a document or a log file?

A: Images only, in the four types listed above.

Q: My screenshot is bigger than 5 MB. What now?

A: Crop it to the part that matters, or save it at a smaller size. A cropped screenshot is usually more useful anyway.

Q: Can Avvi read text in the image?

A: Yes, that is the point of sending one. Make sure the text you care about is legible at the size you send.
