Try Avvi safely before using it on a real client
A practice client lets you rehearse a real approval without touching a live tenant, and costs no actions. It still counts against your client limit.
Avvi ships with a practice client called Avvi Trial Client. Working in it rehearses a real request, including the approval step, without touching anybody’s live Microsoft 365.
Practising there costs nothing. The practice client consumes neither an AI action nor client-tenant capacity.
One catch is worth knowing before you start. Adding the practice client still runs the check on how many clients your organisation is allowed, so an organisation already at its limit cannot add it.
Before you begin
Confirm you have room for another client. The organisation that most wants to practise is often the one already at its limit.
Set aside five minutes. The rehearsal is short and there is no benefit to rushing it.
Start the rehearsal
- Open the practice client from My Clients.
- Start a conversation and ask for the change Avvi offers to walk you through.
- Read the confirmation carefully. Avvi states the exact change and waits.
- Reply to confirm, or to cancel.
- Try replying with something unrelated while the confirmation is waiting.
Replying with something unrelated is the point of the exercise. It is not taken as approval, which is what stops a stray reply triggering a change on a real client.
The two behave differently after that, so expect it. The practice client keeps the confirmation waiting and says so. A real client drops the pending change and answers your new message instead.
Good to know
Cancelling records nothing as a completed change, so there is no clean-up afterwards.
The practice client stays available. Removing it from My Clients is possible at any time and is not required.
Verify it worked
Confirm you were shown an approval before anything happened, and that cancelling left nothing behind.
If you tried an unrelated reply, confirm it was not taken as a yes. On the practice client the confirmation is still waiting.
If something doesn’t look right
If a control is greyed out, your account is not allowed to change it. The setting is not broken and nothing is missing from the page.
If a setting is absent rather than greyed, the feature is switched off for your whole organisation rather than for you.
If the control works and saving fails, Avvi replies “Master admin access required”. That is the same permission problem, reported when you save rather than before.
If the practice client cannot be added, check how many clients your organisation is allowed against how many it has. Being at the limit is the usual reason.
If the conversation behaves like a real client rather than a rehearsal, confirm you opened the practice client and not a real one with a similar name.
If the approval step never appears, open a support conversation from the Help drawer. Approvals not appearing is worth reporting even in practice.
FAQ
Q: The setting is greyed out and I cannot change it.
A: Your account is not allowed to change that setting. Ask an administrator with full access to change it for you, or to add your group to the permission.
Q: Who do I ask to get access?
A: Any administrator with full access in Avvi. Tell them which setting you were trying to reach and what you needed to change.
Q: Does practising use up my allowance?
A: No. The practice client consumes neither an AI action nor client-tenant capacity.
Q: Can I delete it afterwards?
A: Yes, from My Clients, at any time.
Q: Is anything in it real?
A: No. The people and mailboxes in the practice client do not exist, and no live tenant is touched.
