Add a client to Avvi

Adding a client needs their Microsoft 365 organization details. An administrator of that organization then has to approve access before anything runs.

Adding a client is the first thing every new customer does, and everything else depends on it. Avvi asks for the Microsoft 365 organization you want it to manage.

Adding the client is only half the job. An administrator of that client’s organization then has to approve Avvi’s access before anything can run against it.

Before you begin

You need MSP admin access.

Have the client’s Azure tenant ID ready. Avvi will not let you add the client without it, and the form tells you where to get it: copy it from the Microsoft Entra admin center.

Add the client

  1. In the left sidebar, click My Clients.
  2. Click Add Client.
  3. Enter the company name and the Azure tenant ID.
  4. Click Add client.

The new client appears in your list.

The client is marked as needing admin consent until somebody approves it.

The client is listed but nothing can run against it yet. A panel on the client reads Admin consent required, with the description “This client needs Microsoft admin consent before Avvi can manage it.”

  1. Open the client.
  2. Click Get admin consent URL.
  3. Sign in with an administrator account for that client’s organization and approve the request.

If you are not an administrator of the client’s organization, copy the link and send it to somebody who is.

Verify it worked

Return to the client. The admin consent panel no longer asks for consent once it has been granted.

Ask Avvi something harmless about that client, such as listing its users. A successful answer confirms the whole path is working.

If something doesn’t look right

If a control is greyed out, your account is not allowed to change it. The setting is not broken and nothing is missing from the page.

If a setting is absent rather than greyed, the feature is switched off for your whole organisation rather than for you.

If the control works and saving fails, Avvi replies “Master admin access required”. That is the same permission problem, reported when you save rather than before.

What “Admin consent required” means explains that state in more detail.

If consent fails, the cause is usually on the client’s side rather than Avvi’s. Check that the person approving is genuinely an administrator of that organization.

If the client saves but stays marked as needing consent after somebody approved it, reopen the client and check whether the approval completed rather than being abandoned partway.

If it still will not clear, open a support conversation from the Help drawer. Include the client name and what the person approving saw.

Consent lets Avvi reach the client. It does not decide who on your team can work on it, or what they are allowed to do, and both come from the access group your team members are in.

FAQ

Q: The setting is greyed out and I cannot change it.

A: Your account is not allowed to change that setting. Ask an administrator with full access to change it for you, or to add your group to the permission.

Q: Who do I ask to get access?

A: Any administrator with full access in Avvi. Tell them which setting you were trying to reach and what you needed to change.
